Ahhhh, Our Engagement Session!

Posted on

The pictures are finally up, and we just loved them!  This was my favorite part of the engagement , second from the proposal itself of course.  I debated on what to wear and wrestled with RMK to take off his fleece and shorts for weeks.  I  hassled my bridesmaids and sister on jewelry and shoes.  And it all came out fine :)

I think we did the “smiling and having fun” look way better than “serious face.”  Hahaha, on one, RMK thought I looked worried or constipated.  But it was me trying not to smile and looking off into the distance.  We loved the experience, and just cannot imagine our wedding pictures.

All the pictures are from Erin Woolsey, who is just one of the most high-energy, fun-loving photographers you will ever meet.  She put us at ease, and I just adore her work!

Enjoy!

Did I tell you how much I loved them?!

It was me. It was me okay!?

I spent 35 minutes taking this picture while this Anole sun-bathed. I must have taken 50 pics. (Click to see the quality!)

My wonderful Christmas gift this last year was a Canon Rebel, and I LOVE it.  I have no idea how to use all the features and at times, it can be so frustrating.  But  the new header is one of the pictures I have taken.  It’s this gorgeous camera that most of the pictures from this blog are taken from!

One of my favorites. This is actually from a weed in our garden.

A Reminder

Sometimes on a Friday, I am so excited for today to end, for the weekend to start.  I think of the long, long list of To-do’s and hope to knock some big items down.  I think about all those stay-at-home mom’s, working moms, and wives who think about dinner for the next week, grocery store shopping, laundry, cleaning, gardening, bills to pay, studying, clean the sheets, buy plane tickets, wedding gifts, birthday gifts, etc. etc.  And there goes Saturday.  But then you take a look at the world around you…and thank God its Friday.  And thank God I have a job of the privileged, and a home, and people I love and who love me.  Just a reminder, all things are relative, relatively good.

Love is a Many Splendored Thing

The Blush of Love

I was listening to the radio on my drive to Killeen today, the ONLY station you can get clearly the entire way: the 96.7 Bobby Bone show.  Bobby Bone has the most annoying voice, but yet still, I listen because everything else is static.  They were discussing a study of over 2000 people that showed 99% of people believe they have a soul mate.   And there is a questionnaire to discover if the person you are with is THE mate.

According to the survey, these are the characteristics of having a soulmate:

  1. When you see your soulmate, you feel like you’re coming home.
  2. Your union is a “kiss with destiny”
  3. You have a shared mission in life
  4. When you’re together, the world seems like a better place
  5. Your mood is elevated when you’re together.
  6. Being together makes you a better person
  7. You are more yourself when you are with him/her

I love this picture.

I asked RMK if he believes in the soulmate idea, and he said no.  He thinks that a person can perhaps fall in love several time in their lifetime, and the possibility that you could be compatible with several people is high.  It is a combination of right timing, right person, and right environment.  Leave it to him to put the unromantic swing on things.

Being Loved Simply for Being You is the Greatest Gift

I can’t say I 100%  believe in the soulmate idea.  But then, its a lovely thought of the high school sweethearts who were married for 60 years and still hold hands at 80.  I think it exists, and I think its rare.  I think I am incredibly lucky to have something so rare.  A yes to all of the above…except maybe #2 which is straight up corny.

Picture Worth a Thousand Words

My favorite form of art is photography.  I love beautiful pictures of food, nature, people, places, even sex when done in taste.  I am not good at it by any means, but love appreciating others who try.  A few of my favorites:
