Ahh. I pack like a movie star on heroin. Overflowing bags, my Flicka boots, what I want to wear but never get to wear in good old small town Texas, but then when I get there, nothing matches, and I end up wearing the same 3 things in various outfits.
I need help. I need someone to tell me what I really will wear and what my grand imagination has led me astray. But we’re going to Portland, OR. I am soo excited. 2 days on the coast picking clams (this is what I imagine but RMK is rolling his eyes since clams will not present for picking), attending the Beach Bite and Brew at Seaside,OR. We are hiking the coast of Manzanita. Have you seen the pictures of Oregon? http://www.traveloregon.com/

Mulhulland Falls
The state has everything: the best brewery in the US, vineyards, ocean, skiing, eclectic cities like Portland, the beautiful Columbia River, mountains, hiking preserves, and Tillamook: home of cheese and Brie. BRIE: I love brie. I have heard you can order some french bread and a side of brie and wine to nibble as you drive down the coast. Sounds very yuppie, but seriously grand. I have addicted to brie since the Nessa introduced me a croissant wrapped around brie with brown sugar and apples. To die for.

Cozy Bed with Cozy Fire
We are staying at this gorgeous inn on the whalewatching deck. Their bed is like a seacaptain’s nook. We will be skiing at Mount Hood. Visiting a cheese factory. Partying in Portland. And for wannabe foodies, some awesome organic, locally grown cuisine all over this very green state. Everything is pet and kid friendly. To boot, farmers markets are everywhere. I love farmer’s markets: the price is usually cheaper, the produce is so much better, and I just love hunting around for some vegetables or fruit that I rarely cook with. Ok more that later.

The Diva
Seriously, packing. RMK wants me to pack for cold, wet beach, skiing, overnight hike and camp in the mountains, and night life with no check-in baggage. He’s mad. Ooo but I DO have a -10 F sleeping bag that is matching to my awesome hiking pack. He’s rolling his eyes again. It’s the Gregory Deva 70 (the “Diva” I call it). Will review after I get back.
